Together we have covered the past; speculated about the future time to concentrate on the present. Why should you want a wedding planner to help you create your perfect wedding?
If I’m honest, (and I usually am) there are a plethora of tools and Apps available which can guide and assist you in planning a wedding. Everywhere I look someone is telling me about this App or that website will make planning a wedding “easy”. Checklists, spreadsheets, websites with tools galore. Most are free; some have a nominal fee, all want your email address.
Why then with all that at your fingertips do you need me? That question scares me a little but I’ll put on my big girl pants and answer: even well-organized data is just a collection of accumulated facts, it is not a substitute for knowledge or experience.
I have often said I am biased about wedding planners, this is where my bias shines like the sun.
A collection of information no matter how beautifully organized or how easy to use on your phone will ever be able to look into your eyes know you are overwhelmed, take your hands and tell you to breath. It can’t know you do not understand how to explain to a caterer, without insulting them; that you love their food, you very much want to work with them, but their prices are making you hyperventilate.
An APP will never be able to explain to your Mother-In-Law to be that you don’t love lace quite as much as she does and that is OK you will still make her son or daughter a terrific spouse.
Of all the marvelous things technology can do for you, it can’t replace the experienced, knowledgeable mind and understanding heart of a professional wedding planner. For now, at least they don’t have an APP for that!
