Ashley and Christopher came to me with the big picture but few details wanting to create the wedding of their dreams. Through the course of getting to know each other, we were able to work out all the details of the Rustic Chic wedding they desired.
Location was the biggest challenge. We searched for weeks for just the right place. Finally I suggested they look at Inspiration Point at the Presidio. While it didn’t match their vision perfectly, I had a feeling it would be the ideal spot. Within seconds of seeing the panoramic views of the Bay, Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, Ashley called me to “Book it, book it now, Gwen!”
Ashley’s favorite colors robin’s egg blue and red color were used and apples were used for all the décor. Apples were used in her bouquet and as place cards at the reception. It was important to bring fun and whimsy into their day.
The wedding day started at the hotel where all of the ladies of the wedding party joined Ashley in her suite to have hair and make-up done. Everyone enjoyed spending time together, sharing memories and watching many of Ashley’s favorite movies while in the suite. It was truly pampering morning to prepare for the big event that would follow. While the ladies were having girl time, Christopher and his party had lunch with time to catch up.
Wedding guests sat on rustic benches at the beautiful Inspiration Point ceremony. It was hard to believe you were in the middle of the city! Ashley’s sister sang, accompanied by a trio, while Ashley walked down the isle.
The rustic log cabin on the Presidio grounds was the backdrop for the reception and family style meal. The evening concluded with dancing to many of Ashley and Christopher’s favorite songs played by a five-piece live band.
“I was the happiest bride ever,” says Ashley. “I was set free because Gwen took care of everything.”
